The inbox is where tasks go to hibernate. You read, you nod, you think “I’ll get to that in a minute” – and you find the mail again three weeks later, shortly after someone politely asked about it. That’s exactly what the two new features in heidenreich do are for.
One mail, one task
Every task in heidenreich do has its own mail address. It looks like someone fell onto a keyboard, but it does exactly what it should: whatever you send or forward there ends up in the task, one to one. With attachments, with formatting, no exporting, copying or bending things into shape.
The nicer part comes next, though: the task doesn’t have to exist yet. Write to your global do address or to the address of a list, and heidenreich do creates the task right where it belongs. The subject becomes the title, the mail is attached to the task. So you can delegate work to yourself – which works surprisingly well and makes the subject line suddenly a lot more important.
Replying without leaving the app
You reply straight from the task, with your own signature. What arrives on the other end is a perfectly ordinary mail.
When mails are longer than the matter deserves, an AI can sum them up in two sentences and add that as a note on the task. This is explicitly optional and switched off by default. Without your opt-in, heidenreich do passes no mail content to an AI service – with something like this, we find defaults impolite.
Teams: clear about who owns what
Until now you could share lists, and after that it was a matter of trust who took care of what. Now tasks, lists and templates have an owner: you or a team. Subtasks take on the owner of the task above them automatically, no questions asked and no form to fill in.
There’s also the “observer” role. Whoever has it keeps the overview and sees what’s going on, but not the details of other people’s tasks. That’s enough for a household, a club, or three people and one release – and keeps everything else pleasantly clear.
In short
Both features take the same kind of busywork off your hands: gathering things, retyping them, explaining whose turn it is. Both are in heidenreich do as of today.
